Myriah, who liked to throw temper tantrums when captured, was transported to the release site in a special foam lined box seen here. The box was needed for her own safety and the safety of the people releasing her.
The box with manatee inside was removed from the truck by a fork lift.
The box was then attached to a crane which transported her to the water.
Before Myriah was released, she was fitted with a belt around her tail to which a satellite tracking tag was attached.
Myriah can be seen here in the box lying on her back with the belt attached waiting to be released.

| Bye Myriah! Myriah swimming away after her release. Her tag will send locations to the biologists tracking her. |
