River (field notes)

River is a male manatee that was rescued as an orphan in Little River, Dade County on 08/24/04.  He was very small upon capture and only weighed 66 lbs.  River was taken to Miami Seaquarium to recover, grow and gain weight.  River was released on 3/15/07 at Blackpoint Marina’s Manatee Sanctuary with one other rehabilitated manatee.  River was 258 cm in length and weighed 810 lbs on the day of his release.
